What does tentatively mean in the following ?

Mrs. Childress sipped at her stout as delicately as if it were a glass
of tea. “Has there been movement?” She said the word tentatively. It was a
term she had picked up from Alex. “In a manner of speaking. A judge has been selected, and a date for the
hearing to commence.”
