lit /lit up oil lamps

Can I say,

They enjoyed the food joyfully. After dinner, they lit / lit up oil lamps around the house to make it bright / brightly on Deepavali.

Hi Vincent, "Joyfully" is probably redundant. There must be a hundred other adverbs you could choose. (thankfully / gratefully / cheerfully).

"Joyfully" is probably redundant. There must be a hundred other adverbs you could choose. (thankfully / gratefully / cheerfully).

Or you could say, "They ate / consumed the food joyfully etc."

Or you could rewrite the sentence.

Both "lit" and "lit up" work fine here.

"Make" calls for an adjective, not an adverb. You must use "bright."
