Hello teachers! I have planned a listening activity for intermediate students. Please correct any ingrammatical sentences and expressions. Thanks in advance!
Prepare a picture of a building with seven stories above ground and one underground level. Also get some pictures of gift shop, electricity appliance, cafeteria and restaurant. Each group of four students will be given these pictures. They also need glue to adhere pictures on their locations according to the listening announcement. Pictures should look like this: the picture of a building may be the size of A4 or bigger. The others would be size of a card so that they suit to a story of the building.
Let students get into a group of four. On the board, write some questions about the listening which is going to be played. These questions should be answered after the students listen to it once. These are: ? What most likely is the speaker's job? ? Where is this talk being given? ? After listening the talk, what will people do? ? When will they get together again?
2. After listening the talk once, ask students to answer the questions in writing. After a few minutes, check the answers with students figuring out what extend the students have understood the listening. 3. Give students pictures and glue. Explain them that they should listen where the stores are located in the building and glue those pictures after the listening. Play the listening cd again. 4. After looking around all the groups and their works, the teacher decides whether to play the cd once more or not. 5. Check the answer with students.
Make sure that all students understand the pictures and what they stand for each.
Thank you very much indeed teachers!
