List or DB of abbreviations

Hello alt.usage.english users,
I have come across the problem several times, that I need to lookup some abbreviation. What I do is punch it in groups.goolge and I usually find a nice definition.
Does there exist a list or DB of abbreviations somewhere? Somthing that returns for 'e.g.' something like 'exempliae gratis' => 'for example'.
If searched this group, but could not find any hints about such a list.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Very complicated. I believe that Javi thought Skitt had read the header as 'List *of* DB as he suggested that DB meant Daybook. Javi was looking for a database of abbreviations - you wer
