hello everyone,i've got a book with usefull expressions,i'd like to share it with u.i'll start from first lesson,if u liked it,plz tell me and i'll keep uploding other lessons for u,or if u wanted to know the sentences which are more usefull in some position tell me and i'll just up the lesson of that position.

Hi Ferri -- welcome to the Forums! We appreciate your trying to help, and we're glad you posted the source of your expressions. There are two things I'd like to point out:

1) Abbreviations like "u" and "plz" are common on the internet, but please don't use them here. This forum is dedicated to explaining and modelling correct English. Please watch your capitalization ("I", not "i") and spacing (it's hard to read with no spaces after commas and periods).

2) The examples you give contain lots and lots of errors. Some are just careless typing, (can's, guick, sizzy) but many are the same things you are careless with in your own comments. When people post here asking for help, it's understandable if they have errors. If you are offering to help other people, we ask that you be very, very careful with your spelling and grammar.

Does your book give any more details about when and where such expressions are appropriate?

eg It is a very bad idea to walk into a job interview room and say 'Hey,dudes'.

thank you for your checking and reading my post carefully.

about the first point you already mentioned I should answer that I'll never use the abbreviations anymore in my posts and watch the capitalization.

but about the second point I didn't really got the point!you said the examples contains lots and lots of errors (?!?)

of caurse I accept about the typing careless but do they contain any grammatical mistake?cause I didn't write them by myself, and they are idioms, do you care about all the grammar points either in your idioms?

By all this points do you think it would be usefull to others if I keep uploding the other lessons?

Umm... Is it "I haven't seen you for ages" or "I haven't seen you in ages"? I've always thought it was "I've always seen you in ages".

By the way, saying "Hello, dudes" could be really funny.

I would say "in ages," but "for ages" is acceptable. The reply, however, should be

"It's been a long time, hasn't it?"

Ferri, I'd have to say that without any explanation or context these expressions are not all that useful. For example,

ferriHello,you two. Catch you later.
Answer is: yeah,see ya,around.

This suggests that you might want to say "Hello, you two. Catch you later." all at the same time. In fact, "Hello, you two" is a greeting (to two people) and "Catch you later" is something you would say when leaving.

"See you around" is another informal way to say goodbye, but not the way you have it punctuated.

"Look, who's here" should not have a comma.

"O'fair to middling" looks ridiculous the way you have written it (or the way your original source wrote it) -- it should be "Oh, fair to middling."

There is no way to tell how formal or informal the various expressions in your list are.

suggests that the book is not going to be very helpful. "Useful" is misspelled, and "English talking" is not at all idiomatic. (We would say "English speech" or "English conversation".) Personally, I don't think that copying more sections of this book is going to be very useful. Others' opinions might differ.

At first thanks for answering the question about "in" and "for" while I wasn't online.

Now about my source I really got exited about the critical points you wrote and learned some new words and my perpose of joining to this site was to improve my english and it is a good point! Something which I exited about it more than others was about the title! I had never thought about it and paid attention to the title! haha...! yeah I think you are totaly right this book has some(or more than some!) mistakes,the misspellings was my typing careless but for example about the "hasn't" instead of "isn't" this is an elementary grammatical point and she had written it wrong and I didn't pay attention to it at all! I never thought that a distributed book could have such as this mistakes!

By the way, with all this mistakes I think it could be usefull for an intermediate English level person!

Now if even one person wants me to keep copying other sections I would do that, and if anyone has question about the conversation in any position(for example if you don't know what to say in a party,etc ) I would copy just that section of this book more carefully this time!
