List and catalog

I am trying to understand what's difference between these words: list is more general in its own meanings. But catalog specifies a list where each item is displayed with more information.
What do you say about this? Thanks a lot.

I think you've undertood the differences between these pretty clearly. "Catalog" has two meanings. One is a publication that lists items for sale, with descriptions, pictures, prices, and so on.
