Linking words - proper usage

Dear teachers...

Would you proofread the following sentences regarding the usage of proper linking words in bold?

a) In Puritan America there was little time and less occasion for the practice of poetry, therefore, not much first rate poetry was written.

b) American poetry starts with the publication of Leaves of Grass in 1855 by Walt Whitman. Although, it took Americans a century to recognize their first major poet.

c) By this time, Edgar Allan Poe's work was finished. Although, it went unnoticed at home, it had a huge influence in France.

d) It was Whitman who first made American poetry interesting. So as we have learned to assess his accomplishment, we have begun to understand the growth of American poetry.

e) Differ as they may, yet, great American poets do have certain traits in common.

f) The consciousness and sensitivity of a nation are rarely expressed better than by its poets. Although the poets' role in society is poorly understood.

g) Despite the fact that man lives under the spell of an abstract televised, antihuman, big brother voice, it
is the poet's job to transcend this impersonal authority.


h) In conclusion, it needs to be argued that the poet's voice is needed now more than ever before - the voice which celebrates the difficult and joyous process of discovering the self of each individual.
