Linking verbs (action verbs or non - action verbs)

Hi dear members of the forum,

I'd like to ask you something about "linking verbs". I know "linking verbs" are the verbs that connect or link the subject of a sentence to the information about the subject. These are non-action verbs - verbs that do not describe any action are called "non-action" verbs - that take a subject complement after them, rather than an object.

I said above that "linking verbs" are "non - action" verbs. Is that correct to say that "linking verbs" are "non - action verbs"? For example, are the verbs (linking verbs) in the following examples showing an action or a state, please?

So, can we say that the underlined verbs in the examples I gave are (used as) action verbs?

The underlined verbs are not functioning as linking verbs in those sentences. In the othersentences, the verbs denote a change of state rather than an action.

Generally, static situations do not combine well with the progressive aspect, cf. "My house is big" ~ "My house is being big". But there is a way to combine the progressive with a stative expression to give a dynamic interpretation,
