Linking verb followed by preposition

Usually a linking verb is followed by subjective form of the verb but what if we have a preposition immediately following a linking verb as in;

This is between (me and him) OR (I and he).

With the "Between" use "me and him."

Between you and me, this issue confuses a lot of people.

This is between you and me.

This is between me and him - you don't need to know about it.
