Vocabulary

linking up with and calling upon

Hi Teachers,
I don't understand the meaning of this, more important, the structure of the sentence. I have problem with "linking up with" and "calling upon".
Thanks.

One cannot theorize politics, cannot think politics rigorously, without that thinking linking up with - calling upon, just as it also works upon, in a back and forth movement between two registers - a set of ontological commitments.

Anonymous One cannot theorize politics, cannot think politics rigorously, without that thinking linking up with - calling upon, just as it also works upon, in a back and forth movement between two registers - a set of ontological commitments. I feel that the whole sentence is claptrap and balderdash.
