Lines

Hi,

what does it mean when talking about a play someone says:

"It is not a proper play, the characters have no lines."

Does it mean that the characters don't have good texts to say, or that they are uninspiring, uninteresting, plain...?

Thank you.

  • It literally means that they have no text at all.
  • But figuratively it probably means what you have guessed, ie that what they say is dull and uninteresting.
