Likings are the same

Hi

Can we use the word likings at all? Please look at this conversation. What would be the most typical way of saying this?

A – You must read this novel.
B - I will – but can you recommend some more?
A-  Sure. But you must read this one first to ensure that our likings of novels are the same. If you do enjoy this one…

Thanks,

Tom

No -- it would be more common to say "our taste in books is similar/the same" or "we like the same things/same kinds of books."
