Like the one he played

Which is correct:
1) In front of him was an ABC twelve-string guitar as he played in his youth.
2) In front of him was an ABC acoustic twelve-string guitar like he played in his youth.
3) In front of him was an ABC acoustic twelve-string guitar like the one he played in his youth.

Let's say 'ABC' is a brand or a type of guitar.

I think only '3' works.
