Like pups of a new creation

Then comes the day when they stand alone on their front steps, blinking and warming in the sun like pups of a new creation.

Hi,

Does "pups of a new creation" amount to "pups of a new generation?" Thanks.

Hi, That's what it sounds like, but it's not a standard expression. Perhaps you might also say 'like newly-born pups'. The whole sentence obviously needs a context.

Thanks, Clive.

I think your interpretation is better than mine, and the base sentence is from the novel "Loser."
