Like Newton for example

Which are correct:

1) There have been many great scientists in history. You can call such scientists 'revolutionaries'', like Newton for example.

2) There have been many great scientists in history. You can call such scientists, like Newton for example, 'revolutionaries''.

3) There have been many great scientists in history. You can call such scientists as Newton 'revolutionaries''.

I think '3' is correct, '2' is informal, but correct and '1' is very informal. I think '1' would be considered incorrect in written English.
