like death warmed over

Dear teachers,

A: I feel like death warmed over. Maybe I have malaria.

B: It doesn't seem like malaria. You don't have jaundice.

May I ask what "like death warmed over" mean? Thanks.

It's a slang expression that means you feel VERY, VERY bad. Just terrible.

I see, but may I ask why it is like "death warmed over" in the literal sense? Does the word "death" mean a dead body or somehting? And a dead body is warmed again? Sorry about my poor English.

Yes exactly. You feel as bad as if your body had been dead and was "warmed up" to living again.
