Like as

hi,
I've recently come across such a sentence:

The engine on this car works like as new

I personally would say either:
The engine on this car works like a new one
or:
The engine on this car works as new

I want to ask if the form "like as" sounds natural to native speakers?
thanks in advance

It doesn't sound natural to me, certainly in this context. Your sentences are much more natural.
