Hi,

I like orange juice. I would like orange juice.
I want coke. I would want coke.

What are the differences between “like and would like”, "want and would want”, "prefer and would prefer”?

Thanks a lot.

Thank you very much.

I would want ***e.-- But there is no coke.

What does it mean?

I would want coke if there were any coke to drink, but there is no coke to drink, so I can't have any coke.

"I would want coke" portrays an imaginary situation.

Compare:

I would eat some bread (if there were any bread to eat, but there is no bread to eat, so I can't have any bread).
