LIKE adjective or preposition

Hi everybody,

She is very like her mother.

Is "like" used as a preposition or adjective and why?

Thank you very much.

Anonymous She is very like her mother. 'very' is not normally used before prepositions, so I'd say 'like' is an adjective. 'her mother' is a complement to 'like' whichever way you classify 'like'.

In my opinion, it's used as an adjective meaning "similar in appearance or character".
