Like a fool, I was being.

I was acting like a fool. ( I have come across that phrase many times before)
I am being foolish. ( You are normally a sensible person, but you are behaving like that at the moment\ for the time being. Also, I think I don't say that I was being fool because I haven't bumped into that past form)

Sorry for mistyping not fool -- foolish

I must immediately correct my mistake:) After doing a search, I have realized there is a past form of that usage, so we can say: I was being foolish.
