Called IPL Nights, the post-match party was the brainchild of IPL's Hospitality Manager, Poorna Patel, whose father, Praful, is the Civil Aviation Minister.
The contract for organising these parties was given to actor Arjun Rampal and his wife, former model Mehr Jessia. They used their Bollywood and fashion contacts to ensure the presence of designers, celebrities and other cheerleaders of both IPL matches and the good life in general.
For those whose clock still hasn't hit the
15-seconds-of-fame mark, it was possible to buy a VIP ticket to the match with an invite to the party after it for Rs 40,000. All 55 matches and parties were bundled into a package of 22 lakhs. There were takers.
Many say that Amin's
lights-out rule is a carefully-aimed blow at the legacy of Lalit Modi, his predecessor who was forced to resign as IPL chairman on charges of 22 financial improprieties.
The IPL's Governing Council is keen to sanitise the four-billion-dollar league of the Brazilian-carnivalesque touches that Modi showered it with in his three years as its rainmaker. A quieter, cleaner game, is the new agenda. The party
frocks will have to wait.
Please explain to me the emboldened parts.
Though I know "frocks" mean "a dress worn by women" in general.
