Light in the stairs

Hi,

Suppose a building has six floors, so there are many stairs.
Do you say there are several flights of stairs?
If I walk upstairs, in each flight, I would start from the first step at the bottom, and end in the last step at the top.
Are "bottom" and "top" used correctly?

When referring to the lights in this context, can I say "stair light" or "a light in the stairs" or "a light in a flight of stairs”?

Thank you very much.

"There are several flights of stairs" is correct. Yes, each flight has a bottom and a top, as well as a bottom step and a top step. The term "stair well" describes the enclosure where all the flights of stairs are found.

When you use "top" or "bottom" in this context, do you mean the landing or platform between two flights?

"Top/bottom of the stairs" would refer to the landings, yes. In systems with multiple flights, context would determine whether you're referring to the very top/bottom landing, or to the landing at the top/bottom of a particular flight.
