Lift Vs Elevator

They are the same thing. Lift is British English and elevator is American English.

lifts are usually constructed to carry just one person but elevators are constructed to carry people, their wheel chairs,materials etc. Elevators are also vertical transport devices used in buildings under construction for materials transportation. Peter

It should be called a lift, because you can lift something up and you can lift something down. Elevate is a verb which means to raise or lift (something) to a higher position. You cannot elevate something down. Therefore it should be called a lift and not an elevator. ?

Wrong Lift means the same as elevator lol Lift meaning : raise to a higher position or level. so you in same position and meaning as a elevator lol Airplanes "in UK too "have a flap called a elevator!! " which lets a plane go up or down while in flight "see you learn something new every day!!"
