The instructor is asking me to get the lifeguard and I say:

I got it! Or

I've got it!

ARe both useable and interchangeable? Thanks!

Hi, 'I've got it' is often informally pronounced 'I got it' when speaking very fast' Do you realize that a lifeguard is a person? I think you mean what is called in N. America a life preserver (a kind of ring).
