"life" vs "lives"

Which one is correct?

"Life is beautiful" OR "Lives is beautiful"

I've difficulty of using the "life" and "lives". Would you please explain the different and usage of these two words for me? Thank you!

Life is a singular noun and needs a singular verb (is) to go with it. Lives are beautiful. (but you will normally not say this as a standalone sentence)

Life is a singular noun and needs a singular verb (is) to go with it.

Lives are beautiful. (but you will normally not say this as a standalone sentence)
