Your sentence would be grammatically correct, if you said it this way

Life is not that much short as it seems to be.

I would recommend you to say;

Life is not as short as it seems to be.

I think the mentioned sentence can be considered from two points of view:

1) the size which refers to the world we live in

2) the life span which you've mentioned

According to the first one I think the sentence would be fine.
