Lie, lay, lain

Hi everybody,

Does this verb exist alone (without adverb, preposition, and so on)?

For example: I'm lying. (and not (e.g.) 'I'm lying on the bed watching television.').

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Not really. You can say, I'm lying down. Just saying I'm lying sounds like you are admitting to not telling the truth.

Thanks for the answer.

"I'm lying sounds like you are admitting to not telling the truth." -> Of course, I thought of the meaning which is mentioned in the... um... topic title (= "Lie, lay, lain") (topic title?).

Yes, I understood what you meant, but because the two verbs are the same in the present tense, it's best to use the preposition downafter the verb to get the meaning you want.
