Level / grade

Hi,

Question:
Should I use "level or grade" in my sentence?

Sentence:
The classes in our school were divided into 7 grades / levels representing different degrees of difficulty, of which grade / level 7 was the highest.
My class was in grade / level 3.

Thanks

Hi,

Is there any reason?

Thanks

The mistake that my Japanese students make is incorrectly calling the 'years' of junior and senior high school 'grades'. Standard terminology:

Elementary (Primary) School: grades 1 through 5/6
Junior High School (Middle School): grades 6-8 or 7-9 OR 1st-3rd years
(Senior) High School (Secondary School): grades 9-12 or 10-13 OR 1st - 3

Hi,

Will you change your opinion if you read the background below?

Background:

My school was NOT Primary School, Middle School, Secondary School and University.

It was organised by A japanese society in the UK.
We taught Japanese.
It liked an extracurricular activity.

The classes had 7 levels / grades of difficulty

If it was a Japanese school, you can call them anything you like.
