Letting us at risk

Hi

Is the red part fully natural?

He left the main gate open, letting all the family members at risk of being robbed.

Or this:

He left the main gate open, letting us at risk.

Thanks,

Tom

You generally put someone at risk, or leave someone at risk. If you really want to use letting , you could say: He left the main gate open, letting all the family members be at risk of being robbed. A related possibility would be: He left the main gate open, allowing all the family members to be at risk of being robbed.

I'd substitute 'leaving' for 'letting'.
