Letter writing to accommodation office

The following is a letter to a univeristy accmodation offier to ask for a new room. If you see any mistakes, can i have your comments?

First, I would like to thank you for your efforts in providing us safe and convenient dormitory environment. I really feel at home thanks to your good management. however I have a problem with my roommate.... I tried to solve the problems by talking with my roommate, but it was no use.

Omit them from your letter. The residence office does not need or want to hear that. Just get to the point.
