Letter to Professor
Hi everyone!
I would be just fine, if somebody can correct me in the letter to the professor below. Actually, my University has the agreement of collaboration and I need to write to this Professor to ask him to be my hosting-professor during this project.
"Dear Professor H.,
I am writing to follow up on the project about the Russian logistics industry. Assistant Professor Alex V. Popov had the conversation with X on August 27, where it was settled that this project would be interesting for the both parts and would lead to the article in the good journal or fine conference paper.
I am Dmitry Ivanov, second-year doctoral candidate at XXX, Assistant Professor Alex V. Popov is my scientific advisor and my dissertation theses are related to the Russian logistics industry. German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a great opportunity to get the scholarships to carry out a research project at a German university and to establish long-term contacts with German university teachers and researchers. This description fits our project very well. The term of the research grants for doctoral candidates begins on 1 September 2013 and lasts until 31 March. Of course, this is maximum possible duration and in my case it would be perfect if I could have the opportunity to do the research project from .. to… .
According to the conditions of this scholarship program, the application form must include the Invitation (confirmation of supervision) by a German university teacher confirming that the scientific supervision for the research project has been agreed. The invitation must be written on the official letterheaded paper of the German university (including Address, Telephone, Fax, Email) and must be signed by the supervising German scientist. The invitation must clearly specify the length of the planned research stay. The invitation (confirmation of supervision) can be submitted by fax or email scan.
Since your research track is quite suitable for this project, let me kindly ask you to be a hosting-professor during my possible staying at Berlin Free University.
