Letter to inlaws

How do i start a letter to my mother in law that i haven't talk to for more than a year because i'm going thru divorce with my wife and now we thinking about getting back together. I want to say sorry to her for not getting along with her daughter and being such a brad to her and ignored her and want to get back with her daughter to start a new happy life.
