Letter to friend

I wrote this letter. I wrote pretty much ok ? Is it as bad as they tell me? Thank you in advance for your time.

My dear friend, Alice

How are you? I haven’t written to you so long time ago. I can say, it have take ages I have last time written to you.

As you know, I’ve been seconded to the USA to take part in a training course, as well I participating in civilian day life. I’ve been a witness of the Independence Day, it happened two day ago. It is one of the most important day for Americans.

What I saw, you ask? I saw a parade, which was divided into two parts. First part was consisted of official part, in which the local authorities giving speeches and military parade run over the main street of Chicago.

After the official part there was fireworks and concert for everyone organized by the organizers and I took part in those entertainment. Of course, not everything was ok during the Independence Day, due to the fact many drunk people walked among the crowd.

I would like to ask you how the Independence Day looks like in your country? Do not hesitate write details about it.
