Letter to chamber of commerce for sponsoring

Dear Sir/ Madam:

(My name is *, and I’m a 16-year old junior at * High School. I am writing to request a sponsor/s to travel to Spain for the Barcelona Exchange program. )

or

(My name is *, and I recently called concerning my need to be sponsored to travel to Spain so, I am writing to explain my situation. I’m a 16-year old junior at * High school and I would like to travel this year to further my Spanish education but also have fun.)

If I do travel to BArcelona, the trip will be for two weeks beginning on February 11, 2005 and arriving to the US on February 25, 2005. (should I not add date cuz they might think they have time or should I also add deadline like…but i wanna b straightforward) The deadline for $600 is on December 22, 2004 and the other $600 is deadlined on January 19, 2005, coming to a total of $1200, not including pocket money. I know this is very last minute to ask for such a large sum but, I wasn’t sure about how I would go about trying to find a sponsor until I recently asked my counselor, Mr. *. If I do get sponsored, in return, I will schedule appointments with the spanish teachers to tell their classes about my experiences and what companies sponsored me. If this is not enough and you would like me to do something else in return for being sponsored then please make your suggestions to me by calling me at *.

Traveling to Spain will be an educational but also exciting experience. This year is the best time than ever to travel there because being in Spanish V Honors, for the first half of the year, we focus on Spanish art history. Many of the places I would go to in Barcelona are relevant to our lessons because I will be visiting many museums. Not only will I be learning about the art history but I will also get to see the art in person, which is a great privilege. While at Spain, there will be many events that we will attend both as a group and individually. (Attached is the group itinerary in addition to the individual possibilities) The educational aspect of traveling to Barcelona is going on all the tours and to the museums. The reason I’m requesting a sponsor is because neither of my parents are working. My mother is currently in school and my father became sick about a year ago and he isn’t able to be on his feet long enough to go back to work or do much of anything for that matter. Earlier, they thought they would be able to satisfy my need to go to Spain because they assumed my father would be back on his feet again. That assumption lead me to where I am now. I am determined to go to Spain because I already had all my plans set and I can’t let them become useless. So, I’m begging that you please help me find or become a sponsor/s to support me in my endeavors. Thank you very much.

Yours truly,
