letter to boss for all of her help but I"m not leaving

I have been with my boss for 7 years and I am the only one left from the original team. She is the Ex. Director of the domestic violence organization that I work for. She is a great grant writer and does wonders with donors. She has allowed me to change positions for health reasons and we have had major bumps in the road in our relationship. Could you give me some ideas on how to handle this?

thanks, lost in letters

Hi, One approach is simply to say nothing about it, but simply to continue to do your job in the most professional way that you can. Another approach is to discuss the situation with her. If you want to do this, my feeling is that it would be much better to have a conversation with her, rather than to write a letter.

  • I know some people think that it's better to discuss these kinds of problems explicitly, instead of leaving things unsaid.
  • My own feeling is that talking about interpersonal difficulties in the workplace usually solves nothing.
