Letter to a teacher

Hi.

I'm writing a letter to
thank my teacher and I'm not sure about grammar, especially about sequence of
tenses. Could you look at it and give me some advice? I would be so grateful.

So, the letter:

"Before
my studies in LC, before I ever learned English, I had been sure it's
impossible for me to speak any foreign language. I had thought I had had no
ability for doing it. / is it right to use past perfect here? /

Despite this, I forced myself to go to the LC and applied for a course.
I was met by a friendly young man who assured me that in three years I would
speak English as well as the Queen of England does /or did?/. Well, I trusted him
and now I know I’ve made a right decision.

After my first year in LC I saw plainly that English is not as difficult
as I ever thought. I even liked it in a manner. But you, ‘my teacher’s name’,
made me realize one thing: learning English is not just learning English, it’s
a whole world with a grief and kickshaws, ups and downs. I really enjoy each
your lesson, and if come in a bad mood I leave a classroom with a smile playing
on my lips. For all this you must take full credit.

You’re the best teacher. Thank you."

Something like that, you know. Thanks
in advance, Dmitry.

Well,
firstly thanks. I feel like a silly schoolboy. But it’s good for all people to be subjected
to criticism from time to time.
AlpheccaStarsyou have indeed suffered through the grief of learning our strange and wonderful language...
No, I haven't. I'm suffering, in fact. And my English is getting better (I hope at least

Before my studies at LC ( is LC a school? if LC is a school on first reference you have to say the entire name)), before I never learned English, I had been sure thought it was
