Letter of recommendation

Hi!

I would like to know which is the right way to start a Letter of recommendation when you don't know the person you are addressing ? With "Dear Sir/Madam" or "To whom it may concern"? Is it going to be wrong to skip this part and write the letter without salutation if you don't know the person you are addressing?

Could you tell me how to end this type of letter - "Yours faithfully", "Yours sincerely", "Sincerely yours", "Sincerely"? What is the difference between "Yours sincerely" and "Sincerely yours" as well?

Thank you!

So, it is possible to write a letter of recommendation without salutation and it is not going to be wrong or inappropriate.

I suggest you use 'To whom it may concern'.

I just meant that I don't think the readers will be hyper-critical about your letter.
