here is the letter
Dear selection committee,
It gives me immense pleasure to write in support of Mr. Mohamed Kandil's application for elective in cardiovascular surgery at your esteemed institute. I give my highest possible recommendation for him. My acquaintance with Mohamed began in the Round of General Surgery (Spring 2011), where I was his supervisor for a period of three months.
Mr. Kandil is, without question, one of the four to five most outstanding students I have taught at Zagazig University in my 13 years of teaching. To begin with, he is an excellent student with a lively curiosity that makes him dissatisfied with superficial explanations. That curiosity frequently led our discussion down avenues and into areas that, otherwise, would have remained unexplored. He is a conscientious student and shows an excellent fund of knowledge and a willingness to go beyond the usual role of students, demonstrating a commitment to continuity in caring for his patients. He has wisdom beyond his years, and I expect him to go far, in the arena of his choosing.
Mohamed has a lot of strengths but his main strength, through my observation, is the ability of simplification. He often built amazing algorithms which reflected his fathomless comprehension of the material besides the impressive graphics that he originated that in turn helped many of his colleagues to digest abstruse topics. He has skills that he is eager to share, but he is just as eager to learn
Mr. Kandil was an active and conscientious member of the class. He challenged the rest of the class to consider issues from new perspectives and often asked very penetrating and important questions. He chose to take on difficult topics and handled them well. His assignments were well-written, well-supported, organized, neat, and timely. It was evident that he really desired to learn more and challenge himself.
Finally, in addition to intelligence and perseverance, Mohamed is a really nice person to work with. He is mature and up-beat, takes responsibility for his decisions, has a terrific smile and energetic personality. Personally, I feel these additional “non-academic” qualities are nearly as important as scholarly abilities. In Mohamed, I believe any medical institute will get the complete package: ambition balanced with compassion; intelligence edged with humor; scholarship enhanced by strong interpersonal skills. I strongly recommend Mohamed be accepted into your institute. He will benefit from the early start, and the program will get a fresh perspective. If I can be of further help, please contact me
Sincerely,
