Letter of motivation - project assistant

Hi,
could somebody please help me with my letter of motivation for an NGO (project assistant position). Its mission is to provide hight quality online courses in the area of physical rehabilitation for students in developing countries. I am required to explain my personal history, educational philosophy and employment goals. Thank you for your help in advance!

Dear Sir or Madam,

Growing up in a tourist city shaped a lot of my identity and who I wanted to be in the future. With so many visitors from all around the world, all I wanted to do was to discover places they came from and learn languages they spoke. This curiosity led me to enrol in department of romance languages and literatures to study French and later to work as a tourist guide in the region.

Considering travelling as an amazing learning opportunity, I decided to join X airline. Working in a multinational team as well as interacting with passengers of various cultural, educational and religious backgrounds taught me the true meaning of patience, tolerance and respect. With many regional conflicts occurring at the time, our airline flew many refugees to western countries and the more I got to know them, the more I felt the need to help them. I decided to volunteer for “XXX” organization which uses most of its donations to build informal schools and buy school supplies for displaced children.

I have never questioned the importance of education, but it was this very experience that made me realize how positively it can influence one’s life. Education should not be about competition and getting the highest exam score, but about giving a chance to students to discover their talents and build self-confidence by realizing they have something unique to offer. It is essential that learning environment does not only deliver the content, but encourages students to think critically in order to prepare them for future unfamiliar situations.

It is undisputable that education is there to help us develop intellectual skills, but more importantly, I believe it should fortify our character. That is why I think that is vital good education combines practical and theoretical knowledge. For only through practice educators can guide students to become professionals who will use their skills with integrity and be willing to contribute to the society.

Your mission to make education more accessible is something I greatly value about your organization. I strongly believe that the true meaning of helping someone lies in providing them with relevant knowledge to build their lives. The training you provide to your beneficiaries does not only help them to reach their personal and professional fulfilment, but also to have a tremendous positive impact on other people’s lives.

Joining this organization would give me a chance to work on something I believe in, and I would be very enthusiastic to work within a team and bring my sense of organization and my communication skills to this project. As for now, my career goal is to gain valuable professional experience in this area and then to move on to assume more responsibilities, if and when they become available.
