Letter of Motivation for research internship
I am trying to write a letter of motivation for a summer internship at an international university. I realize my letter is kind of technical, that's kind of the nature of the program and the letter will be read by specific professors in my field. I'm having trouble with the wording in some places, I think it might be kind of awkward. Please let me know if you see any problems or can suggest any corrections. Thanks!!

I am applying for a summer internship in the School of Computer and Communication Sciences through XXX Internship program. My faculty advisor, Dr. XXX, directed me to the opportunities at XXX University and I believe my research experience, as well as my excellent academic standing, uniquely positions me as an ideal candidate.
I am pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Engineering at XXX University. Through coursework, I have gained expertise in software engineering, embedded system design, and hardware-software codesign. In my research, I focus on evaluating the security of elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) using cryptanalytic attacks. I am especially interested in evaluating the performance impact of algorithmic and platform-specific optimizations on cryptanalytic systems. Thus far, my work has concentrated on designing systems for hardware platforms. One of my research goals is to extend these efforts to compare results of highly optimized implementations on multiple platforms including Cell CPUs, GPUs, and multicore CPUs. Through this work, I expect to contribute to a better understanding of the security of ECC and the role of reconfigurable hardware in cryptanalysis.
A XXXProgram internship will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in global collaboration and to build an international network of contacts in the research community. The School XXX at XXX is internationally recognized as a global leader in computer engineering. I am confident that a summer internship will give me the opportunity to learn from the expertise of the faculty and students, while applying my research experience in hardware software codesign and cryptanalysis to make meaningful contributions. In particular, I am very interested in Professor Lenstra’s work on implementing cryptanalysis using PlayStation3s and Professor Vaudenay’s work on demonstrating security of cryptographic schemes through analysis and attack. My current research aligns closely with these topics and my experience in hardware design for cryptanalytic systems will allow me to bring a unique perspective to the project.
My educational background demonstrates a strong ongoing commitment to excellence in research and academic performance. I am interested in pursuing a research project at XXX that will allow me to apply my skills in designing cryptanalytic systems and gain experience in global collaboration.
