Letter of Motivation for German University

Dear Sir,
I am hereby applying to the M.Sc. Program of “Communication and Media Engineering” at the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg starting in October 2013
I got my first taste of engineering when I started studying physics in my high school education. My educational experience there got me quite interested in understanding the different engineering marvels of the world. To achieve that goal, I got myself admitted in the leading engineering university of India, to do my BE (Bachelor of Engineering) in Electrical (Telecommunications) Engineering. There I attended the courses like Computer Networks, Digital Communications and Mobile Communications. The amount of research, fast paced development and the number of opportunities in these areas grasped my interest and I decided to pursue a career in the field of telecommunications.
I joined XYZ after successfully completing my bachelor’s. Now I have about 2 years of job experience working as Performance Analyst. My key responsibilities include Network Performance Management by doing KPIs Analysis and Signaling Analysis of the Radio Access Network. Also I am responsible for the resolution of network performance related complaints from individual as well as corporate customers. Working at XYZ has helped me grow as a professional and has given me a chance to significantly improve my technical knowledge in the field of telecommunications. In these two years, I have been a part of several network performance improvement projects. These projects have provided me with vital work, time and team management expertise. During my job I have also gained invaluable experience in interacting and working with people from different departments and diverse educational and social backgrounds.
After working at a challenging position in a well-known organization for two years, I feel that to excel in this field, further education is very important. The communication and media industry worldwide is developing at a very rapid pace; I believe that a specialized international degree would enable me to keep up with latest global developments in this field.
When I decided to pursue a master’s degree, I researched quite thoroughly and I came to the conclusion that Germany would be the place best suited for it. The standard of education and quality of research being done in the German universities is second to none. I believe a Master degree in Germany will open opportunities for me not only in Germany but all over the world because the degrees are recognized internationally. Also, Germany is a place where people of all cultures, races and nationalities can work together in harmony, easily and efficiently. It is a place where hard work and diligence are given precedence over anything else. In addition to that, German language enjoys the status of being an international language. I would very much like to learn this language as I think it might prove to be useful later on in my engineering career.
I chose Communication and Media Engineering program at University of Applied Sciences Offenburg in particular because I believe that the modules of Communications Engineering, Media Technology and Computer Science included in this program can broaden the horizons for me in the job market and will help me gain in depth knowledge, both theoretical and practical, in the areas of my interest. In addition to that, the courses of management and social skills in this program also attracted me because these skills of significant importance for people working in organizations. The facts the CME program at University of Applied Sciences Offenburg was listen among “Top 10 International Masters Programs in Germany” and that the university is ranked as “very good” in number of rankings were also the factors that made me choose this particular program. Apart from all this, what attracts me even more to this particular institution is the reputation of the institute in the industry.
After completing my studies I want to join an eminent organization in Germany since I believe that working in the German Telecom Industry will take me one step closer to my goal of becoming an engineer of the first water. The German Engineering Industry is developing at an exponential rate, and if given the opportunity I hope to reap its benefits. I strongly believe that my previous education and the experience that I have gained while working in Telecom sector in India will be very helpful while studying in the program that focuses on applied engineering and practical experience. The aim of the program is consistent with my academic background and objectives. I am confident that with the knowledge gained through CME program I will gain essential skills and experience that will help me take a giant step towards achieving my professional goals.
Thank you for your consideration.
Regards,
