Letter of motivation for Erasmus University Rotterdam

Hello, I would like to have some advice for my motivation letter below

I am writing to apply for the BSc in Management of International Social Challenges programme at Erasmus University Rotterdam in September 2016.

My name is Jérémy, I am 18 years old. I was born in Paris and raised in a small town named Bruyères sur Oise sixty-four kilometers far north from Paris. I am French and Congolese. My father is from Congo and my mother is from the DR Congo. I travelled many times in my whole life. I took part in several school trips to Spain and Italia. I travelled many times to Belgium, Germany and Congo. Some members of my family live in Belgium. Then, I’m used to go to Belgium. I visited Germany during my holidays in 2006 and 2007. Then, I practice English. Congo is my father’s born country, I visited it once in February 2012. It was a great experience. Because I discovered my father’s culture and his country. These experiences allow me to meet people. France is a multicultural country. As a consequence, I have grown with people with different cultures. They practiced different religions and cultures. That made me a better human-being. In my opinion living with people who are from a different country can make me better. As you can see I have been used to living in a multicultural environment.

I have chosen this programme because it’s a multi-disciplinary program which involves economics, political science, and international law. By taking an interdisciplinary approach I hope to gain a well-developed view. In my secondary school, I am used to studying different subjects such as economics and sociology, mathematics, history, geography. I am fully interested in their programme. Thus, this programme gives me the opportunity to study it during my studies. I would like to work for the European Commission or UN and in the future become President of European Commission or Secretary-General of UN. I would like to do this because being a Politician whose decisions would have an impact on the world is my main goal.

Studying in English would give me the opportunity to practice the language in both academic and professional settings. In my opinion, English is a universal language, it allows to speak with anybody. The Netherlands has always interested me due to its multicultural society. Following my research on Dutch Universities I concluded that the Erasmus University Rotterdam is the perfect match for my expectations. Firstly, this university has outstanding facilities which provide students a stimulating environment. Secondly, the university has a high percentage of international students. I prefer to be among international students because it allows me to meet people from different countries. Thirdly, your educational method of problem based-learning is attractive for me. Applying academic knowledge to concrete cases allow to me to study more effectively.

Thank you for considering my application. I would be very pleased to be enrolled for September.

Sincerely yours,

Jérémy MFOUNDOU
