Letter of motivation for a study-abroad semester

Hi everybody!

Could somebody have a glance of my letter of motivation. I have read a lot others but I am not entirely convinced of mine. I am applying for a study-abroad semester and not for a whole programme. Maybe it influences your considerations.Thank you very much.

Dear Sir,



I am writing to apply for the Taught Master’s programme at the School of Management and Business in the course of a study abroad semester starting in fall.



I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Economics in October 2010 at the University of ABC where I also continued my studies in the Master’s programme. I am currently studying in my first Master’s semester with the focus on Strategic Management which emphasize Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Controlling.



Strategic Management arouses my interest due to intricacy, discontinuity and fast pace in a globalised world. Managerial methods to overcome economic, political and social complexity are a crucial factor for business success. I am interested in studying the variation of managerial methods to analyse and evaluate firm strategies. Concurrently, I am keen on developing strategies and plans and achieving them. I developed my passion for the latter while I have been a vice president in an international student organisation called XYZ in XYZ. During my tenure I have worked many of times on an international basis and learned how intercultural knowledge can influence the success of a project.



At XYZ University I see the great opportunity to get in touch with a lot of other international and national students to pull down intercultural barriers and to develop a broader understanding. As an open-minded person I am looking forward to improve my communication and language skills during the tutorials and group works.



Consulting my tutor ADF at the University of ABC strengthened my intention to study at the XYZ University due to its excellent educational system and facilities. The taught courses in Management and Marketing cover unique subjects referring to modules at the University of ABC and enable an enhancement of my knowledge in Strategic Management beyond the scheduled syllabus.



Though my stay at the XYZ University is limited to one semester I am entirely convinced about the success. It will contribute to my personal and academic development and broaden my mind. I am confident that my motivation and commitment will lead to a successful and promising performance and I would appreciate to receive the opportunity to study at the XYZ University.
