Letter of motivation

I am writing my letter of motivation and I could use some help. Thank you for reading. This is what I've got so far:

I am applying for a seat in your Bachelor in Psychology. I was first introduced to ---- University in 2011. I was intrigued by ---- University’s high quality education and international reputation. I’ve known for several years that I want to study Psychology and I was very exited when I read that you would offer an International Bachelor in Psychology. My goal is to achieve high results in my education allowing me to pursue a career in Psychology.

There are many things that intrigue me to study phycology. I highly appreciate how Psychology as a science is constantly expanding, and changing. Studying psychology would allow me to gain knowledge, understanding and perspective not only during my studies but also in a future profession. I have been interested in psychology since lower secondary school and have enjoyed reading about the history as well as modern theories and studies. No other subject has ever made me feel as motivated and exited to learn. I enjoy exploring the many different perspectives and subdiciplines in Psychology. I believe studying psychology would help me grow as a person, expanding my knowledge and understanding and encourage me to think critically and challenge my point of view.

In preparation to study Psychology at Leiden University I choose Psychology 1 and 2 as my elective subjects in Upper secondary school. The subjects introduced me to some of the history of Psychology as well as the sub disciplines in psychology. I found it to be very enjoyable and useful. Furthermore I worked in several kindergartens in my gap year as my experience might become useful when studying Psychology.

When I was introduced to ---- University I was intrigued to hear that as well as offering a high quality education, there is a very multicultural community at the university. I think having a multicultural community is valuable in any study but especially for Psychology, as it can promote diverse discussions. I don’t know what county I’ll eventually settle down in, and I believe that ---- University’s International reputation would offer me a greater flexibility than other universities. I am also very impressed by ---- University’s high position in top research across a range of fields. All this taken into consideration leads me to the conclusion that ---- University is the best place for me to achieve my goals.

I have been fortunate to spend many of my holidays in the Netherlands. I have been introduced to the Dutch culture when visiting different cities and villages. I really enjoy the open minded and diverse culture in the Netherlands. In my experience, Dutch people are very accepting to differences and encourage people to live and express themselves in ways that make them happy. I’ve also noticed that people are very kind and helpful. Although the Dutch and Norwegian cultures have many similarities, there are also some noticeable differences. I feel that Norwegian culture sometimes encourages people to compare themselves to others rather than developing their own identity. The Netherlands stands out to me as a country in which I can learn a lot and enjoy the culture.

Receiving a seat in your Bachelor in Psychology would be the best place for me to start my education. Studying at ---- University would be a valuable experience personally and professionally. I believe my motivation and interest would enable me to work hard and achieve good results. I hope I can bring enthusiasm and diversity to the community at ---- University.
