Hi.. this is my Letter of motivation, which I am trying to write from last week.. I have made several changes but still I find it kind of insufficient. LETTER OF MOTIVATION

Dear Sir Prof. xxxx,

Being interested in joining your esteemed research group, I am writing to apply for the PhD program at xxxx. I have completed my Masters and have received my “M.Sc. degree in Chemistry” from the reputed xxxxxxx college with Medicinal Chemistry and Biochemistry along with the other core courses of Organic, Inorganic and Physical chemistry. As per my strong desire to work in challenging field of applied science, I have always wanted to work on something which can be helpful for the sake of worldwide scientific community and humanity. Due to following reasons and my Biochemical background I am highly inclined towards unraveling complex biological phenomena and applying knowledge for solution of various diseases and problems.

Being a student of chemistry and having studied different sub branches, I have gained a concrete knowledge about how molecules (or biomolecules) behave under different conditions, along with the understanding of quantum effects on molecular motions (Temperature or Electromagnetic Radiation effects, symmetric effects etc) and role of molecular forces in their reactions and dynamics.

The Biochemistry course, that I studied in M.Sc., contributed in my knowledge of experimental Biochemistry and Biomolecular processes, meanwhile helping me to understand various important Biological pathways and Biotechnical methods. As I have worked as a part of team in Biochemical research project (of 12 months duration at School of xxxxxxx) successfully, it has also furnished in my teamwork skills considerably. I am highly dedicated to apply my knowledge, gathered up until now, in the practical areas of chemical biology and in learning various tools used for the similar work, with the best of my potential.

My goals for pursuing PhD in the field of Chemical Biology is primarily because of my curiosity for understanding complex biological world, along with my will for contribution in development of drugs and other solutions for diseases. As it is extremely important to understand how biomolecules behave in their normal and diseased states, and how overall mechanism can be affected in specific ways without interfering with the other biological mechanisms, the task becomes very challenging and hence fascinating too. As my molecular level skills and keen observation can be highly useful for such work in future I am highly enthusiastic about it.

Dr. xxxxxx, I am highly excited about the novelty of your work and I hope that my motivation and teamwork skill strengthens my candidature for post of PhD scholar in your esteemed group. As I find your faculty in exact accordance with my goals, I am anxious to join the field, and hence writing to apply for the eminent Ph.D. program.
