Hallo, This is my Letter of Motivation. I'm going to apply for a semester abroad at the RMIT Unisversty with this letter,It would be nice if somebody could ceck my letter, please.
"Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to apply for the study abroad program at the RMIT University for two semesters starting in February of 2012 and ending in the summer of 2012. My name is .... and I am 24-years-old and a student in my third semester in Germany at Wismar University - University of Applied Sciences: Technology, Business and Design. I am studying Electrical Engineering. Before I went to university, I completed a vocational training as a mechatronics technician but I realised that I had much more interest in a solid foundation of academic education, therefore, I have chosen to study electrical engineering.
My desire to study in Australia is based on the diversity of remarkable landscapes, the environment and the culture of the Australian continent. Therefore, study abroad gives me a perfect opportunity to learn more about Australia and immerse in its culture. Furthermore, I will have the chance to meet and get to know the Australian and international students. I will learn their ways of life, get valuable insights about their culture, hear other people's opinions as well as exchange experiences with them. This will provide me with the opportunity to improve my English communication skills and increase my cross-cultural competence and contribute to my personal development. To accomplish such an important goal, I have chosen Melbourne because it is one of the world's most liveable cities and a melting pot of culture.
The major reason for me wanting to study at RMIT University is because I would like to study in an international, multicultural environment and a university that has a good reputation for applied research. Besides the RMIT has a highly qualified School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and well equipped laboratories I think studying at the RMIT University would be the perfect opportunity to gain this experience. It is my belief that my educational background, work experience and ideas of academic studies match perfectly with the concepts and visions of the RMIT University. I am convinced that “work-relevant education, high quality research and engagement with the needs of industry” are the most important goals that a university should implement to fulfil the demands of students and industry. (Another reason why I would like to participate at this university is because it offers a wide choice of courses and modules that perfectly suit my study plan. ->weg lassen?)
I am looking forward to being a part of this program.
Yours faithfully"

My desire to study in Australia is based on the diversity of remarkable landscapes, the environment, the fabulous climate and the culture of the Australian continent that I hope to explore during the semester break. Therefore, study abroad gives me a perfect opportunity to learn more about Australia and immerse in its culture. This desire grew even stronger after I gathered information about study abroad, Melbourne and the state of Victoria. To accomplish such an important goal, I have chosen Melbourne because it is one of the world's most liveable cities and a melting pot of culture also I can experience living in an international environment. In addition, the city of Melbourne is a great starting point to explore the east coast of Australia.
The major reason for me wanting to study at RMIT University is because I would like to study in an international, multicultural environment and a university that has a good reputation for applied research to gain new experiences in the field of academic challenges. Besides the RMIT has a highly qualified School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and well equipped laboratories I think studying at the RMIT University, one of Australia’s top research institutions, would be the perfect opportunity to gain this experience and to broaden my horizons. It is my belief that my educational background, work experience and ideas of academic studies match perfectly with the concepts and visions of the RMIT University. Because you are from Germany, I suspect English is a second language, so it is difficult.
However, logic in any language should still prevail.

I'm going to read your example letter. But English Wikipedia knows mechatronics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechatronics and Word doesn't show me any grammatical mistake.
But I really appreciate your critic and I will update my letter of motivation
