Dear Sir/ Madam,

I wish too apply for PhD program in xxx Germany, starting in xx 2006. This degree would help me to start my career as a research scientist preparing me to work both in a team as well as to carry on my independent research work.

They are several reasons why I choose research as my career 1) the very process of excising my forethought to understand and explain complex phenomenon gave me immense joy and satisfaction 2) the mental and physical hard work which undergone in this process to achieve something new is always enchanting and pushes me too look and strive for more. My way of contributing to the research field need not necessarily be something new, but qualitatively quantifying which would be useful to scientific community and mankind.

With my personal traits and background in core sciences, in subjects like Physic, Chemistry, Mathematics in bachelors and masters, and specialization in atmospheric sciences. I knew I would be well prepared to take up research in the field of atmospheric sciences. With physic, chemistry, mathematics and statistics forming the backbone of atmospheric sciences, which I always enjoyed learning and solving. So, it is easy for me to talk about my career ambitions and what I wish too to.

Since my college and university days I always enjoyed doing experimental and lab work, which sometime involved team work and figuring things independently. In this process I trained myself thoroughly to do my job as a team worker and independent researcher. Developing qualities like hard work, concentration, confidence and handling pressure situations and giving input in given constrain of time. Which further I put into practice and gained fruitful results during my master thesis works on 1) Size distribution of atmospheric aerosols over xxx using sun sky radiometer done at xx meteorology under guidance of Dr. xx 2) Morphology of cosmic dust spherules obtained for XXocean cruise at national institute of oceanography, under guidance of Dr xx. Apart from that I also participated in the national land campaign conducted by xx Research Organization (XXX) in December 2004 over north xx, was responsible for handling, taking observations and data processing of multi wavelength radiometer used for retrieving aerosol optical depth from direct solar radiance, during my one and half year stay as research fellow at xx of Technology. Since being a member of English club in my school days I gained reasonably good command over both writing and spoken English which helped me a lot during my paper presentation in conferences and meetings.
