I am not a native English speaker, and would very much like opinions on the following letter. Thank you very much in advance.
Dear *** I am currently completing my Ph. D. in Functional Polymer Science at Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, *** University and I will graduate from ***’ s laboratory in March 2004. I am writing to express interest in joining your institution as a postdoctoral fellow to work on projects involving textile chemistry processing and colour technology. I would like to start my postdoctoral work soon as possible after my graduation. I am writing to you in this regard. In my graduate work, I have been working on the development of novel functional fibers and agents for clothes (mainly flame-resistant agents). My thesis work has been on the innovation of new acrylic polymers containing silk segment and investigation of their practical use as functional textile materials. This project is being supported by a Grant-in-Aid for COE research (***) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of ***. During the course of these projects I acquired experience in textile science, biochemistry, organic synthesis and synthetic polymer materials. I have experience in the construction of scientific equipment for chemistry experiments, as well as a number of signal processing devices essential for such projects. I am eager to acquire additional expertise and look forward to the opportunity to apply my skills to current problems. Please find my resume as well as a list of relevant courses. Transcripts and letters of recommendation are available upon request. Yours sincerely, ***
