Dear sir/madam,

REF: MASTER OF PULIC HEALTH (MPH)

I am applying for the Master of Public Health program offered by your university starting in the fall of 2015. This program is a stepping stone towards my future Doctorate and continuance of my research in the field of universal public health.

2. My whole approach towards my practice of medicine changed as I grow in the world of medicine. Looking at the health condition of the world population today, it created a fear and concern deep in my heart. Irrespective of advancement in medical technologies the world countries are still facing great burden of diseases. Commercialization of health care and emergence of more preventable diseases together bring the global health status to a stake. Therefore, I strongly believe that “public health” has magnificent role in the betterment of the health status of the world. Thus I am looking forward opportunity to progress in my career and bring betterment to the public health.

3. I have outstanding academic performance and was entitled for scholarship and awards during my secondary, matriculation and undergraduate studies. Excellent grades, though important, are not the only indictor for research potential. Being exposed to clinically integrated undergraduate medical program I learnt basic medical sciences, society and health, biostatics and ethics in medicine. The community involvement as a medical student started at 4th year of the program when I was given opportunity to conduct surveys and organize medical camp in a village which was severely affected during tsunami. Research skills learnt during undergraduate, namely ability to operate Epi-Info and SPSS software program are advantage in the field of research in the future.

3. The world is changing into an unsafe place to live due to natural and unnatural circumstances. Modernization and industrialization are impregnating its root. Unhealthy practice at work place became inevitable in order to chase personal or company profit. This has been clearly seen during my daily practice in health clinics by increasing incidence of more communicable diseases, mental illness, and occupational related injuries or accidents in the work places. Maternal and child health is another fascinating field I have worked. Ability to utilize morbidity and mortality measurement to assess the health status of a community is an advantage in my current practice.

4. Having reviewed many universities profile both locally and internationally, I have carefully chose xxx to pursue my study. I am fascinated by its world class education and international student friendly approach. I am looking forward to learn in a new culture and environment which could contribute to the diversity of approach in my practice. Being the first Anglophone program to be accredited by Council on Education for public health in xxxx, I believe I will have a brighter future to progress in my career.

5. I strongly believe that by acquiring this Master of Public Health I could contribute to my personal development and play a significant role in the universal health care system. Upon successful graduation I would like to bring my career to another milestone by indulging in national or international health care programs and designing health care policies. I am planning to attribute my future research work in the area concerning occupational related mental illness and its impact in the individual, family and society . Given my education and experience, I am confident that I am an excellent fit for the Master of Public Health program. Thank you very much for considering my application. It would be an honor to continue my studies and pursue my passion at your university.
