Letter Writing

Letter of intent. Help me please

Hello! I need to send a letter of intent to a University to convince them to select me for a course. My English is moderate so I'll need help. Especially because I don't have experience with intention letters or formal English.
The letter I've wrote is above. Please give me all the sugestions or corrections you think it's necessary.
Thank you so much!!!!

"I graduated in Biology from the Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG) in March of 2012. Currently I’m a Master’s student in the Ecology and Evolution program also at UFG. My project is to study patterns and processes related to genetic diversity and character evolution of frogs from the Leptodactylus marmoratus group (Anura: Leptodactylidae). I’ll develop a phylogenetic and a biogeographical hypothesis for this group of frogs by using the sequences of mitochondrial and nuclear fragments of Leptodactylus species. Using the molecular phylogeny I’ll map 10 characters of natural history such as: number of eggs per clutch, presence or absence of nuptial pads and tadpole development. The mapping will allow us to infer how these traits of natural history evolve in the Leptodactylus lineage.
During the last two years of my graduate college I had a scholarship from CNPq program of scientific initiation. I have great interest in the big area of evolution, especially when associated with zoology and genetics. I intent to pursue the Master’s degree in early 2014 and start a PhD in a program related to Evolution also in 2014. At the moment I’m interested in the Evolutionary Genetics and Molecular Biology program at the Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar).
I’m particularly interested in this course because it covers broader and specific topics within the field of Evolution. The fact of the course be divided in exposure, discussion and writing also interested me because it provides an easy way of learning and exchange of information. During the course I expect to learn more about some specific topics in Evolution, especially those related to my Master’s project. If selected to this course I also expect to practice my English skills, meet new people with common interested, be updated about new information in the Evolution field and know more about research programs in São Paulo’s state. I believe that this course will add much to my academic career specially to my Master’s project."
